Open grassland

The long horizon

The grassland is not empty. It is a moving map of grazers, hunters, insects, and birds, each responding to rain and the quality of a single patch of green.

When the herds arrive, the plain becomes a current. When they leave, the silence is only another kind of movement.

Water remembers

The Mara River and its smaller channels draw a darker line through the savannah. Their banks hold fig trees, dense grass, and the cool cover that leopards, elephants, and birds seek.

In dry months, water gathers life close. In the rains, it becomes a force that redraws every crossing.

Acacia woodland

A canopy of thorns

Acacia woodland offers a different kind of shelter: thorn, shade, and high leaves. Giraffes browse above the reach of other grazers while smaller animals use the understory as cover.

At night, the trees become silhouettes and listening posts, holding the last warmth of the day.

Seasonal movement

Rain writes the next route.

The Mara changes with the weather. Short rains wake the grass; dry months gather animals near water; migration turns the river into a threshold. Every season asks the animals to read the land again.
